Structural heart disease CT
Non invasive investigation of the anatomical structure of the heart

What is a structural heart disease CT?
This is a non-invasive 3D xray test. You are connected to a drip and electrodes to monitor your heart rhythm. Most patients will then be given medication to slow their heart rate which gives us better quality pictures. Then, as you lie on the table you are passed through a donut like CT scanner.
Why would you need structural heart disease CT?
Dr Shand may suspect various forms of congenital or structural heart disease and require this specialised CT for diagnostic purposes. Alternatively, you may have been diagnosed with structural heart disease such as aortic stenosis and require this CT for interventional treatment planning.
